Frequently Asked Questions

What’s included in the online courses?

Each course includes lifetime access to high-quality video lectures, supplemental reference materials, downloadable project files, course quizzes, and homework exercises. Enrolled students also have access to private discussion boards and messaging tools to request 1-on-1 instructor support (I personally respond to all messages, typically within 12-24 hours). Last but not least, my courses are risk-free and 100% guaranteed; if you aren’t completely satisfied with your experience I’ll make sure you get a full refund, no questions asked. Still not sold? Feel free to preview some videos to see if these courses are right for you.

Can I preview or audit a course?

Sample video lectures are available to view here. While it’s free to preview the videos, enrollment is required in order to access the course resources, exercise files and discussion boards.

Are there any requirements or prerequisites for your courses?

Although courses are designed to accommodate students of all experience levels, you should be familiar with Excel’s basic functionality and user interface before diving in. Each course begins with a review of basic, “building-block” concepts before moving into progressively more advanced and complex topics. For the best course experience, I’d recommend using Excel for PC (version 2007 or later).

Can I take your courses on a Mac (vs. PC)?

While Mac users are certainly welcome to join, it’s important to note that what you see on your screen may be considerably different from what I’m showing on mine. While the general concepts are universal, Excel’s user experience does vary across platforms, particularly when it comes to general navigation, data visualization and pivot tables. If you’re unsure if a course is right for you, feel free to contact me for more information.

What if I’m using an older version of Excel?

You should be able to follow along with 99% of the course material if you are using Excel 2007 or later. Generally speaking, I’d highly recommend subscribing to Microsoft Office 365 to make sure you’re always up to speed with the latest (and greatest) version of Excel. If you have any questions about compatibility, feel free to contact me for more information.

What’s your refund policy?

Satisfaction guaranteed. Period.

Do I need a subscription to view online courses?

Yes. In order to enroll in my online courses, you will need to register for a free account on Udemy.com. It’s about as simple as tying your shoes, and once you’re registered you can enroll in any course on the platform.

What are your consulting and coaching rates?

Consulting and coaching rates are determined based on the scope and complexity of the project. In general, contracts range from $100-$200/hour. For more information, please request a quote and provide some basic project parameters.

What types of consulting projects can you help with?

If you’re looking for advanced Excel or data analytics support, I can help. Past projects have included custom reporting and modeling tools, automated dashboards, database infrastructure, forecasts and projections, interactive visualizations, data analysis and business intelligence solutions, test design and strategy, and more. Please reach out or request a quote to see if your project might be a good fit.

How much do charge for group training?

On-site group training (10-30 participants) is available at a cost of $2,000 for a half-day session or $2,500 for a full day, not including travel. Half-day sessions include 3 hours of instruction plus 1-2 hours of Q&A and office hours, and full day sessions include 5 hours of instruction plus 2-3 hours of Q&A and office hours. Course curriculums are fully customizable, and can be tailored to your specific needs and requirements. For information about private tutoring or small group training (fewer than 10 participants), please request a quote.

Will you make my company awesome at Excel?

Absolutely! I offer personalized, on-site training for groups of 10-30, which includes hands-on instruction as well as Q&A sessions and additional 1-on-1 office hours. Feel free to contact me for more information or to request a quote.

What topics do you cover in your group training sessions?

It’s up to you. Course curriculums are personalized for each session, and can be tailored to fit your particular audience and areas of interest. Content generally falls into three broad categories: formulas and functions, data visualization, and data analysis with Pivot Tables. If you aren’t sure which topics are right for your group, I’d be happy to learn more about your goals and recommend a content package suited to your needs. Feel free to contact me to learn more or to schedule a session.

Are you planning to develop more courses in the future?

Yes! The next courses are already in development, and will cover some of Excel’s groundbreaking new analytics tools, including Power Query, Power Pivot and PowerBI. Got an idea for a new course? Send me a note and let me know what you have in mind.
